Maira Merlo
Psychologist
| ADULTS |
Maira works with adults who may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain about what needs to change. Her approach is warm, collaborative and practical. She takes time to understand each person’s experiences, what matters to them and what they would like to work towards, supporting them to navigate the challenges and changes that can arise throughout therapy.
Maira has experience and a particular interest in supporting people with anxiety, trauma recovery, relationship difficulties, parenting challenges and significant life transitions. She also has an interest in supporting women through perimenopause and menopause.
Her therapeutic approach draws on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) informed practice. Her work is tailored to the individual, rather than following a one size fits all approach.
Having lived and worked in different countries, Maira brings an open and culturally sensitive perspective to her work. She offers sessions in both English and Spanish.
Outside of work, Maira enjoys travelling, cycling, spending time outdoors, going to the beach and spending time with her family.
