The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”

Liam Farrelly
Psychologist
| ADOLESCENTS | ADULTS |
Liam Farrelly is a psychologist with over 25 years of experience working across community health, emergency services, trauma recovery, and leadership settings. He has extensive experience supporting EVPA clients, including police, firefighters, emergency workers, military personnel, and mining workers, as well as professionals navigating complex life transitions, anxiety, trauma, chronic pain, and workplace stress.
Liam is known for being exceptionally calm, deeply insightful, and quietly challenging in a way that helps people move forward with confidence. His approach is client-centred, trauma-informed, and flexible, drawing from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), psychodynamic thinking, and other evidence-based approaches tailored to the individual.
Earlier in his career, Liam played a leadership role coordinating recovery services following the 2009 bushfires, an experience that profoundly shaped his understanding of trauma, resilience, and community. He has also worked in senior management and executive coaching roles, supporting leaders and teams in high-pressure environments to navigate stress, conflict, and change.
Growing up on an isolated property in country Victoria and later working across Melbourne and Newcastle has given Liam a deep appreciation of how environment, identity, and life experience shape mental health. Alongside psychology, he is a musician and writer who understands performance anxiety first hand.
Liam believes therapy is ultimately about helping people become who they want to be and live the life they want to live, with greater clarity, courage, and self-understanding.
