Kat Ashton
Provisional Psychologist

Kat completed her Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) in 2020 and is now studying her Master of Professional Psychology at University of Newcastle. Kat commenced her psychology career with NewPsych Psychologists in 2021. Prior to this Kat worked as a qualified Human Resource professional for 20 years specialising in recruitment and business management. Through her extensive career of working with a truly diverse range of people Kat has realised a common thread, every one of us has had personal struggles. It’s the work that we’re prepared to put into overcoming our struggles and barriers that sets us apart.

Kat uses a combination of evidence-based approaches to work with adolescent and adult clients experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, stress, grief and loss, interpersonal and relationship difficulties, self-esteem, and emotional regulation. Kat adopts a range of tools and techniques such as relaxation, mindfulness, and cognitive restructuring to provide a holistic and personalised approach to therapy.

Kat is passionate about working with people to better understand themselves through a process of self-discovery, education and breaking down barriers to uncover a platform for becoming their best selves.

Outside of work Kat loves all the simple pleasures like hanging with family and friends, good food, yoga, the beach, music……and maybe karaoke!
