Rachelle is a Registered Psychologist with over 10 years experience in private practice, as well as a background in occupational rehabilitation, disability services and the fitness industry. She completed her Bachelor of Psychology (Hons) at the University of Newcastle.
Rachelle has a special interest in autism (especially less recognised presentations such as Pathological Demand Avoidance or later diagnosed adults) and ADHD. She enjoys working with neurodivergent individuals on gaining insight, understanding and compassion towards their unique and authentic selves; or helping parents of neurodivergent children manage the challenges that they commonly face and be able to best support and advocate for their children. She is also experienced in treating a variety of other issues such as trauma, generalised anxiety, depression, eating disorders and OCD.
Rachelle uses evidence-based interventions including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), EMDR, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Schema Therapy. She draws on elements from these various therapies to provide individualised and tailored treatment for her clients, depending on their goals and needs.
Rachelle has a particular passion for the positive effects of exercise on mental health, and has worked as a research assistant on a project investigating the relationship between mood disorders, exercise and treatment outcomes. She enjoys fitness pursuits, especially pole and aerial sports. She is also a mother of school aged children and has a love of animals.
