"Let go of who you think you’re supposed to be; embrace who you are."

Krist Thomson

Krist has a background in childhood trauma, attachment, parenting, family relationships and adult crisis intervention. She works with a wide range of presentations but specialises in anxiety, depression and trauma. Her focus is on identifying barriers to accessing inner resources, building resilience and guiding her clients toward self-empowerment.

Her therapeutic approach is authentic, warm and flexible. She takes an evolutionary perspective, providing practical science-based rationale for why we do what we do… then, works with her clients collaboratively to decide which approach may work best; CBT, DBT, solution focussed, strength-based, trauma focussed ACT or a combination of all. She believes that to be seen, heard and acknowledged are basic human needs required for connection and transcend differences in gender, culture, life experience, status and beliefs.

Krist lives with her husband in a blended family with two adult’ish daughters. In her spare time, she likes to try new activities which often involve physical pursuits, she admits are potentially beyond her capacity (like the lockdown roller-skates idea?). Her lockdown herb garden is going well though and no-one has been hurt (so far!). She believes balancing fun and adulting is a lifelong challenges worth pursuing!
