Karen is a Clinical Psychologist with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and has been working in the mental health setting for almost 20 years. She has expertise in working with people with a wide variety of presentations. In addition to working with people with adjustment difficulties and mood disorders, Karen also works with individuals who have addictions, comorbid mental health and substance use, interpersonal conflict, emotion dysregulation, self-harming behaviours and trauma.
In order to effect change in her client group, Karen has expertise in a variety of therapeutic approaches including; Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and psychodynamic approaches, including the Conversational Model etc. She uses her knowledge, skills and experience to tailor her interventions to the needs of each and every individual client. She does so, however, using a warm, compassionate approach with much focus on developing a strong therapeutic alliance.
For Psychologists, Karen has been a Board Approved Supervisor for 10 years and is able to provide Clinical Supervision for Clinical Psychologists, Clinical Psychology Registrars and both fully and provisionally registered psychologists. This is a much enjoyed aspect of Karen’s work and has been acknowledged by her supervisees in HNE Health who nominated her for Supervisor of the year in 2018.
Karen is a busy mum who loves spending time with her family and two beautiful daughters!
